NBA basketball Betting Begin

Sports betting is the general activity of predicting sports results by making a wager on the outcome of a sporting event. Perhaps more so than other forms of gambling. There are many sports do sports betting such as baseball, football, golf, boxing, tennis, scoccer and of course basketball.

How to Bet on Basketball
If your looking to bet on hoops, there’s many different options you have to choose from. Some are single game bets with less house advantage while others tie games together forcing you to win all bets and that have huge payouts. We’ll explain them all below!

The Point Spread - It is also called “sides,” this bet features a favorite and an underdog. If you take the favorite in the match up you give points to the other team which means you take those points away from your score at end of game to determine your score vs. the other team. If you stake the underdog, your getting free points from the other team that you add onto your score at games end to determine the winner. The common odds on this bet have you laying $1.10 to profit $1.00. As with almost all wagers in sports betting, should you tie you get your stake back. If you win you nail the profit as well as your stake back.

The Moneyline - This bet eliminates the point spread and makes it a bet in which the team you select only has to win by one point. If you take the favorite, expect to pay more to win less. If you take the underdog, expect to lay a small amount to profit more. The odds take into account the difference in equality making the wager an even proposition.

Totals - This type of bet has nothing at all to do with the point spread or either team winning. Totals wagers are only relative to how many points are scored in the game by both teams. You either select over or under the posted total. This like sides, is a wager in which you should expect to lay $1.10 to profit $1.00.

Parlays - This is high risk/high reward bet that is tough to conquer and in exchange for that it has fat payouts. In a parlay wager, you bet in between 2-12 teams and have to win all of the best in order for the bet to cash. One loss and your ticket is in the trash. Here’s some parlay odds so you can get a better idea of how the wager works:

Friday Only Special
Parlay Odds[-105]
Regular Daily Parlay Odds
3 Teams 6.4/1 6/1
5 Teams 27/1 25/1
7 Teams 107/1 75/1
9 Teams 411/1 300/1
11 Teams 1,570/1 1,100/1

As you can see, if you can hit a 12 teamer you can nail down 1800 to 1 odds. It’s been done many times before, but no easy task!*Note: Special parlay odds shown are offered only on Friday’s at Players Only.Teasers - A teaser bet is like a parlay in that you have to win all your games, but differing in that teasers allow you to move the point spread in your favor. Here’s a teaser chart so you can get a better idea of how many points you can move the line and what the cost will be to do so:

Pleasers - This is quite possibly the knarliest of all bets. Pleasers are a mix of a parlay and a teaser but with a twist. Instead of getting points to use in your favor, your GIVING points away making it harder for you to cover. In exchange, the bookie is willing to give you enormous odds to win. Let’s take a look at a pleaser chart:

Props - These bets match up player vs. player such as Tim Duncan vs. Kobe Bryant to score the most points in the game and such. They can even be ridiculous bets such as who will get the ball first or score first. We don’t recommend those type of bets obvioiusly. There is however value to be found in any betting matchup involving individual players stats. As a tip to you, don’t just look at what the player averages over the course of a season, check out how that player does vs. the team in question. Some gems are to be found here by turning over these rocks! Props have very low limits because astute players can dominate them!Futures - These are long term bets such as a certain team to have over or under a certain amount of wins during the season. Then there’s the high risk/high reward bets such as picking a team to win their division or league championship. These type of bets are also a great way for small players to get in on the action and have something to root for during the course of the season for a very little investment. Don’t expect a high winning percentage though! Futures are tough to beat but oh so sweet when they cash. Now that you know how to bet on basketball, may we recommend that you check out my “NBA Prediction”!

Paul lead Hornets past Spurs

Chris Paul had 26 points and 17 assists, David West who  sprained left ankle kept him from running in practice and forced him to miss three games, but didn’t stop him from trying to maintain his shooting touch. He has 29 points and help the New Orleans Hornets take a convincing 100-75 victory over the Southwest Division leading San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

“I stayed in the gym,” West said of his absence from the lineup. “I wasn’t able to run, but I was able to shoot. It was just coming out ready to compete, feeling like I was ready to go tonight. It was big. I was ready to get back out there.” he has 29 points and 10 rebounds to help to win the Spurs

“Obviously they’re a team with a lot more veteran guys than we have. They’ve been to championships,” West said. “They’re going to try anything, especially against us, where they feel we’re a little bit inexperienced. I like the way the guys responded. We kept our composure and really were able to get what we wanted.”

The Hornets shot a stunning 59 percent against the Spurs, who had held 26 of their previous 30 opponents under 100 points.

Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Parker finished with 26 points, hitting the Spurs’ only two 3-pointers. Ginobili added 11 points for San Antonio.”They were making every kind of shot,” Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. “It’s really hard to win like that. I don’t think we played horrible. We’ve played worse before. They just executed great.”

The Spurs body-to-body defensive play resulted in a lot of foul calls and numerous players crashing hard to the court, but Paul worked through it and ended up surpassing 20 points and 15 assists in a game for the eighth time this season.

“They did a good job coming out and trying to be more physical with us,” Paul said. “They tried to switch Bruce Bowen on to me, who I know likes to hold and grab and things like that, but we tried not to let it affect us.”

David West and Chris Paul played awesome,” Duncan said. “Chris was just unbelievable. It felt like every shot he put up there went in or he made the right decision.”

Rockets reach 20th straight win over Hawks

The Houston Rockets became the third team in NBA history to win 20 consecutive games, tying for the league’s second-longest winning streak with an 83-75 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.

Tracy McGrady scored 21 of his 28 points in the second half and Shane Battier had 15 points as Houston struggled to preserve their winning streak. They were held to their lowest first-half total during the span and trailed 33-32 at halftime.

“We’re really happy with this win because we didn’t play well in the first half,” McGrady said. “This is a pretty ugly game tonight. We didn’t shoot well and it was one of those games that our defense really had to win for us.”

note: The Rockets are 20-0 since their last loss on Jan. 27 against Utah, including 7-0 since losing Yao Ming to a foot injury on Feb. 26. The Hawks have 16 losses in that same period.

“It’s unbelievable,” McGrady said. “For me to be on this team that has accomplished 20 straight wins, that has got to be right up there with the most gratifying things I’ve accomplished in this league. … You look at the Bulls that were 72-10, they didn’t even do it. So this is pretty remarkable.”

A basket by Atlanta’s Marvin Williams with 5 seconds left in the game ended the Rockets’ streak of 10 straight wins by 10 or more points. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 28 points, and Josh Smith had 16 points and a career-high 22 rebounds.

Howard’s Leads Magic Past Clippers

Dwight Howard had his league-leading 57th double-double of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds in the Orlando Magic’s 110-88 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.

Rashard Lewis had 19 points and Hedo Turkoglu 17 for the Magic, who had all five starters in double figures by the end of the third quarter. The Magic improved to 24-0 this season when holding teams under 95 points.

“We’ve got some guys in our locker room who have never had a winning season and I think you’ve got to appreciate some of the things you accomplish during a season,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “The next goal is to wrap up a playoff spot and then win our division and secure home-court for the playoffs.”

It feels good to have a winning season, but we’re not satisfied,” Howard said. “We’ve got a lot of stuff to work on for the playoffs. We want to be great so you’ve got to push to get better.”

“They were staying back in the paint and leaving us wide open so you’ve got to take those shots,” Van Gundy said. “We usually hit a stretch where enough of them drop and we’re in pretty good shape.”

The Clippers got 22 points from Corey Maggette and 17 apiece from Cuttino Mobley and Al Thornton, but were hampered by the absence of center Chris Kaman. He missed his second straight game with a sore back.

“I knew it was going to be a pretty long night against Dwight (Howard) without Chris,” Los Angeles coach Mike Dunleavy said. “Dwight was just a nightmare matchup for us. We had to collapse and double team him and they have too many good shooters. Sooner or later someone is going to catch fire.”
